a reminder of vincibility and the renewal of vigor
April 23rd, 2005 by Jaredi've been swamped at work. but it's still been fun. i've been a part of some great projects and for that i'm very thankful. i'm enjoying my job more and more each day that i work there.
this past week, i had worked over 40 hours by the time i left on thursday, so my boss had me take friday off. darla got off work right when i did and we headed home to get ready for dinner at my parents' house. darla hadn't been feeling well, so she took a plastic bag with her. she ended up using it on the way home. she's so smart.
darla spent the evening and part of the morning making friends with a porcelain statue at our house. i finally fell asleep around midnight, but was promptly woken up at two.
“jared, i think i need to go to the hospital.”
in a sleep-deprived daze, i reply, “huh?” (nice one, eh?)
we ended up calling a doctor and she told darla to make sure she kept drinking fluids. that wasn't good news for darla because she wasn't keeping anything down at that point. i ended up making a two-thirty drink run to the closest place that was open (qt). anyway, it was not a fun night.
friday didn't turn out to be any better because darla was still sick. we spent the day at my parents, with darla on the couch and myself outside building a patio with my dad and others. it was great to get out and do some manual labor. i strained my hamstring, but it's one of those injuries that i can be proud of, because i did it while laboring. it's not like pulling a muscle falling down the stairs. that's embarrassing to talk about. this is something different. something better.

Stupid porcelain statues.. demanding our regular visits and un-timely worship.
